Course Descriptions - Art

Studying art is one of the most exciting and personal ways for student to explore and enrich their world. It helps us dream dreams, experience beauty, and take part in wonders and mysteries deeply affecting the quality of our lives.

Art is used to create many things we usually take for granted such as houses, cars, clothes, books, tools, photographs and practically everything else we use each day. Learning to design or understand these objects, students find unique qualities within themselves ad are helped to appreciate their own worth and the culture of our country and of others.

Rather than teach answers, art helps students discover their own answers in ways basic to all creative thinking, whether artistic or scientific, thus preparing them for their future world. They will be more sensitive, smarter consumers and creators who will be better able both to enjoy and contribute to our cultural heritage.

All Courses listed in this section meet the Mount Anthony Union High School Art or Music requirement. In addition courses listed in the Music section also meet this requirement. Additional courses that fill this requirement are Graphic Technology, Quilting 1 and Quilting 2. SB Quilting can be taken twice to fill the requirement. Engineering 1 has an embedded Art credit. 50 minute Art courses such as SB Calligraphy and SB Symphonic Band can be used to meet the Art and Music requirement.
