MAUHS Mission Statement

Mount Anthony Union High School is committed to providing its graduating students with the knowledge base, academic and technical skills, and strength of character necessary to become successful, healthy and productive citizens of an ever-changing country and world.

To help all students meet the challenges of life we will:
     • Provide a safe and nurturing environment
     • Offer challenging and rigorous academic courses that meet the needs of all students
     • Provide opportunities to develop advanced technical skills
     • Create a supportive, involved community of parents, and business and civic leaders
     • Provide opportunities to pursue interests and talents in the creative arts, music and athletics
     • Offer programs that provide information and activities that help develop and promote a
        healthy, positive lifestyle
     • Encourage education and civic responsibility


Performance Targets for Graduating Students
We expect that at graduation, all students at Mount Anthony Union High School will be able to demonstrate the ability to:
     • Read a variety of materials–including original historical documents, literacy and scientific
       texts and technical manuals – critically and with understanding
     • Write effectively for a variety of purposes and audiences
     • Listen actively and critically as well as recognize slanted and/or complex messages
     • Effectively express themselves verbally in a variety of forums
     • Use accurate and appropriate mathematical skills, models and strategies to solve and/or
       explain a variety of problems
     • Identify problems and suggest solutions for current local, national and global issues using
       relevant geographic, historical, cultural, scientific and political knowledge and information
     • Use current information technology to investigate and communicate effectively
     • Use appropriate team/independent strategies to achieve goals
     • Exhibit self-reliance, respect and concern for others, and a sense of social and political
       responsibility
