Evacuation Drills
Evacuation drills are run regularly to prepare for possible emergency situations. When an alarm is sounded, students must evacuate the building in an orderly fashion. Evacuation routes and assembly points are posted in every room. Make sure you are familiar with these instructions. Once you are in your designated assembly area, you should remain with your class so that the teacher may take attendance. If you are not in a class when the alarm sounds, leave the building through the nearest door and go to one of the assembly areas. Make yourself known to the sweeper (person with a radio and a numbered vest) for that area so that when reported missing by your teacher,
you can be accounted for. It is imperative that all students be identified as being out of the building.
During some situations, the students and staff will be asked to move to a secondary location (i.e. the football field). If this happens, upon arrival you should stay with the sweeper and wait for instructions. You may be asked to go to the assembly point of your
1st block class and report to your teacher. (The sweeper should be able to show you the location). Again an accurate attendance is needed and you should remain with this teacher until the drill is over.
