English 10A Literature & Composition Humanities



Students explore the interrelated forces that shape regional cultures and guide global interactions. Literature, the social sciences, and the arts add to students’ understanding of Africa, Asia, the Americas and Europe. Earns credits in (0473) SS2 and English Literature & Composition 10A. Students will be expected to complete summer reading texts and assigned work. Assignments are available from the Literature and Composition Department Head Teacher.

The Literature A program is designed for college preparatory students. Students will be required to complete two summer reading books: one that is assigned and given to students and one chosen by them from the book list. During the semester, students will be expected to read a minimum of five full-length novels and/or plays, as well as draft eight formal papers. Work with poetry, drama, short literary pieces, grammar, and vocabulary will be ongoing. An average of 30 minutes per evening of homework will be expected of the students in this program.
